Hello,
Not that many subscribers to this list would need such a thing for themselves, but I wrote a brief OSHW intro for the April edition of RS Components eTech magazine:
http://is.gd/M0gAqK (Note: it's a 5.5M PDF!)
Though, this may come in useful if someone asks what OSHW is, and some of you may recognise the photographs from OSHUG meetings.
Cheers,
Andrew
Hello friends: I need help for buying a new laptop or netbook with linux or at least with hardware that linux can recognize without problems. I don't mind if it is slow, I just want a cheap laptop that I can use for many years. I hope you can give me a way to discriminate those machines built for big corporations who only care about selling and not giving a nice product to people. Cheers,
LAMG

Second hand thinkpad off ebay? You can pick up a X61s with ultrabay for about 180-200 quid.

Not played with one but looking at the specs it's amd based, not sure if their cpu offering is mature on the mobile platform vs intel.
