Hi all,
As you know we have been largely co-hosting OSHUG events with the BCS Open Source Specialist Group (OSSG). The OSSG has a small steering committee, of which Andrew Back and I are members, responsible for organizing meetings.
You don't have to be a member of the BCS to be on the committee (Andrew is not). We'd be very interested in hearing from any OSHUG member who might like to join the committee. The AGM when we elect a new committee is on 20 October (it will be combined with an OSHUG meeting again, to be announced shortly).
If this is something you'd be interested in, or you have questions, please drop me an email.
Best wishes,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
This sounds interesting. What are the responsibilities and requirements?

Hi Andy,
The committee meets mostly by email and telephone conference, but from time to time we get together face-to-face a couple of hours before one of the regular meetings.
Some roles are defined (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Web Admin). Others are more ad hoc, such as Andrew and I acting as event organizers, or Andres who is our web admin. Other people have no specific role, but are there to contribute as they see appropriate.
We have quite an active events program, so another pair of hands to help me and Andrew would be appreciated. Or just as another voice on the committee if you prefer. If you'd like to be part I'll put your name forward.
Best wishes,
Jeremy
