Hi folks, Hope you're all doing ok. I randomly looked up ShrimpingIt last night and realised the site is gone and the domain is up for sale. Seems like it was active up until early September this year.
Anyone know what happened to the site?

ShrimpingIt was a one-man band run by Cefn Hoile.
He presented at Wuthering Bytes in 2012

However, I met him around the same time at an event in Liverpool and he had a very young family present.
The Shrimp was primarily based around an ATmega328 - and times have moved on, to better and faster hardware.
There comes a time when an enthusiast with a good idea, becomes overtaken by progress, and a huge supply of vastly cheaper hardware.

It was a great project from Cefn, and I still use it to introduce young people to Electronics.
If someone wants to capture the information in a blog post, we should be able to host it on the BCS OSSG website. Which should give it longevity.

Been a long time since maintaining shrimping.it was a priority and it must have fully fallen off the bottom of the list this year. in DNS terms..

The raw (Inkscape) SVGs were all exported from... https://github.com/ShrimpingIt/projects/blob/master/vector/common.svg ...just with different ones of the labelled layers turned on or off.
I think the last time I used that SVG I was exporting the Alarm clock (2 * 12 LEDs) which is why it looks like that, but that same file can export all the kit diagrams if you start by turning off the Alarm clock components and then figure out which of the named stages you want to see on the breadboard.

Thanks for all the links and poiners, Cefn. I'll take a look at the repo for the website. Might be interest to turn it into a handbook. archive.org does something to the website mirror and the page layout so images are disproportionate, but it's good that it's all there and can be built on.
