Hi, Should we meet up for old times sake as a one off, given the recent news about Ken? I was thinking The Queen's Head on the 24th of February (Tuesday), 6:30 onwards.

Hi Sevan
That sounds like a great idea. Although I live in Leicester, I volunteer at Bletchley Park on Tuesdays so I could leave my car there and get a cheap train into London.

I'll be there and I've put it in my diary.
I can even bring a TICK board and a Mystorm if people want to see them.
Hi Andy
I have a Tick too - have you ever got yours working? We should compare notes. Were you there in Hebden Bridge when our table collapsed, scattering soldering irons and components everywhere?

I haven't done anything with it since I got back from OSHCamp2024 but it did sit on the bench until January when I made a project box for it as I was tidying up.
I remember the table collapsing! I was on a different table tho'.
I sat with Ken on the Friday or Saturday evening in the hostel and he showed me his simulations: the ones that are available on Github. I remember there being some subtlety to the design but I think we can finish it! I'd love to collaborate but probably rather slowly.
As for debugging, I've got a few options, but I ordered one of these earlier this week:
https://www.elektor.com/products/labnation-smartscope-usb-oscilloscope
It's the LabNation SmartScope. It's quite old now but they have a good deal on it, the specs are good for the price and it does have very good Open Source credentials.

Cool, was thinking back at projects mentioned at oshug, and recalled Nanode (not a suggestion to bring one, was just working through memories). :) https://wiki.hackerspaces.org/Nanode

Ah yeah, I was thinking of that one too but I couldn't remember the name (and don't have one).
If everyone brings what they've got then we can get a group photo of them all together!
I think he did some PiHats as well around the time of the Nanode or shortly after.
Hi Andy
Small world - I've had a LabNation Smartscope for a while now. But I was tempted by that Elektor offer, and have ordered another two. I want to combine them to make a four track plus 16 channel logic analyser to use at The National Museum of Computing where I work on the EDSAC Replica build. I gave a talk about it at Hebden Bridge. I want to write EDSAC decoders for the logic analyser - we use the same with PulseView/Sigrok (Python decoders), but the SmartScope uses Visual Studio and I'm trying to get the hang of that on a Windows PC - huge learning curve! Look forward to seeing you all.

That's a really nice idea and I have many fond memories of post-OSHUG drinks at "The Best Pub in London", as it modestly billed itself. I won't be able to make it, sadly, but will raise a glass to Ken.
I was deeply saddened to hear of Ken's passing, which I was informed of via Debbie Davies, who many will remember from the much-missed C4CC. It was no age and just the week before had been chatting with Ken about the British computer industry as-was, and a potential visit to The Jim Austin Computer Collection. He was a generous soul, who gave his time freely and made a real impact in helping others.
On a happier note I'm hoping to arrange OSHCamp for August bank holiday weekend. More in due course.
Best,
Andrew

I never knew Ken, and this might be my first ever post to this list, and I won't be able to make it.
This is an incredibly touching tribute to somebody who clearly meant a lot to people here and I would be touched if people gathered in my memory in the same way.
I wonder if people who are in contact with his family and relatives might be able to let them know that it is happening so that they are aware that people are raising a glass in his direction.
And of course, doubtless, they would be welcome if they felt they wanted to come along too.
