This e-petition to HMG asks to have programming taught in schools
It is only tangentially related to the interests of OSHUG. However in general if you learn programming it will bring you into a range of tools and application that are open source. The understanding it brings also helps awareness of open source. And of course one of the best ways of learning real programming is with Arduino.

If it reaches 100,000 signatures, then it may be considered by parliament. Given the number of programmers in the UK that should be achievable.
I believe that any member of the public can sign e-petitions, not just adult voters. In particular if you have children who care about this issue (mine do), then they can sign as well.
